Day 1
Flight to Sri Lanka

Today your journey to Sri Lanka begins! You board the plane and fly to Sri Lanka's capital, Colombo. You arrive here the next day, where your itinerary continues.

Day 2
Arrival in Sri Lanka

Today you will arrive in Sri Lanka. Once you arrive at the airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and then taken to your hotel in Negombo, so you can recover from your flight. In the evening, you can optionally go to a club or bar. We recommend going to Beach Road, where you will find the most popular bars in Negombo: Rodeo, Sherry Land, and Lords. This is also within walking distance of your hotel. In addition, the beach hotels in Negombo often organize fun beach parties.

Day 3
Negombo, Habarana

After a delicious first breakfast in Sri Lanka, today's itinerary includes a trip to the Cultural Triangle. You will travel with a driver and guide. This region is so named because of the many cultural highlights you can find here. Before arriving at your hotel, you will visit one of these cultural sites. The rock temples of Dambulla have been on UNESCO's World Heritage List for 20 years and are filled with many statues of Buddhist gods. The walls and ceiling are also covered with paintings, giving the caves a special atmosphere. Before entering the caves, you will also pass the golden temple, another magnificent structure. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to spend as you wish, perhaps taking a dip in the pool. In the evening, we will be happy to organize a party at the hotel bar!

Day 4
Habarana

Today, you will first visit Pidurangala Rock. You will climb it in the dark. The little brother of Lion Rock is less than 200 meters from the world-famous rock. When the sun rises, you will have a truly beautiful view of the landscape with Lion Rock in the foreground. It is a moment of great beauty! Enthusiasts can also visit Sigiriya Lion's Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka's biggest attractions. Lion's Rock was built in the 5th century by King Kassapa. This spectacular royal palace was built on top of a rock plateau at an altitude of no less than 200 meters. The name Lion's Rock comes from the enormous paw that can be seen at the bottom of the rock. This is where the adventure to the top of the rock begins. Once at the top, you will have a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. Afterwards, you will take a village tour through the town. You can combine this with a cooking workshop where you will learn more about Sri Lankan cuisine. It is an incredibly diverse cuisine that is known worldwide. Sri Lankan cuisine has influences from Portugal, the Netherlands, England, and India. The rest of the day is yours to spend at your leisure.

Day 5
Habarana, Kandy

Today you will leave Habarana and travel on to Kandy, the sacred Buddhist city in the mountainous region of Sri Lanka. This is primarily due to the presence of the Temple of the Tooth. Legend has it that after Buddha was cremated, a tooth was found in the ashes and smuggled from India to Sri Lanka in 313 AD, where it was eventually stored in the Temple of the Tooth. Possession of this relic was associated with power on the island, which enabled Kandy to become an important city. Many believers consider this temple to be the holiest in Buddhism. In addition, as a large city, Kandy also has a lot of activity on the streets, markets, and around the lake located in the center of the city. It is therefore a great place to explore and get in touch with the local culture. Today's program includes a visit to the city and the temple.

Day 6
Kandy, Ella

Today you will travel by train from Kandy to Ella, also known as the most beautiful mountain village in Sri Lanka. This is not just any train journey, but is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The journey takes you through green hills with tea plantations, high mountains, rice fields, and small villages. It is a beautiful and unique trip. There are frequent stops in small villages where children wave to you as you pass through. Your hotel will prepare a packed lunch so that you can eat and drink during the train journey. Upon arrival in Ella, the driver will be waiting with your luggage and will take you to your accommodation for the rest of the day. Ella is known as a backpacker village and the main street is lined with restaurants, bars, and hostels. We recommend visiting the center in the evening.

Day 7
Ella

You have a day off in Ella and the possibilities are endless! We suggest hiking to Ella Rock (2.5 hours) or Little Adam's Peak (20 minutes) this morning. At the top of the mountain, you will have a beautiful view. For enthusiasts, there is also the option of ziplining on the way to Little Adam's Peak. After the morning hike, we recommend a visit to the Nine Arch Bridge. This is the most beautiful spot to spot and photograph the Sri Lankan train. The evening requires little explanation; you will visit the lively backpacker center with its bars and restaurants.

Day 8
Ella, Unawatuna

You will continue to the final destination of your tour of Sri Lanka, the beach resort of Unawatuna. After arriving at your hotel, you will have the rest of the day free to enjoy the pool or beach. Optionally, we can organize a yoga session for those who are interested.

Day 9
Unawatuna

Today you will wake up in Unawatuna, a beautiful coastal town on the Indian Ocean. You have the day free to enjoy the beautiful beach and blue sea. There are various beach activities that we can organize for you. For example, you can go snorkeling off the coast, where you can spot sea turtles. You can also take a trip to Weligama today. It is one of the most popular surfing spots in Sri Lanka, where we can organize a surfing lesson for you. The waves are not too high, providing enough thrust to send you towards the sandy beach at considerable speed. In addition to its beaches, the coastal town is also known for its small but cozy restaurants and bars located directly on the beach. We are happy to reserve a great place for you to eat and have a drink!

Day 10
Unawatuna

This morning you will visit Galle. Galle is a city of great beauty and, with its colonial architecture combined with the tropical setting of Sri Lanka, it is a special city to visit. During the tour, you will visit a traditional tea plantation where you can see the tea-making process and taste delicious fresh tea. The city tour ends with a visit to the turtles that live on Turtle Beach. The evening is yours to spend at your leisure.

Day 11
Unawatuna, flight home

Unfortunately, your trip through Sri Lanka comes to an end today. You will be taken back to the airport, where you will say goodbye to your driver and board the plane back home.

Day 12
Arrival at home

Today you will return home with an incredible travel experience to add to your collection!

Impressions

Ella; the beautiful mountain village of Sri Lanka
Ella is a small village in the middle of the mountainous tea fields. You can explore the town of Ella in one day, but the areas surrounding Ella actually require a little more time. There is so much to see around Ella. There is the Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adam's Peak, Ella Rock, Ravana Falls, and the Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory.
Cultural Triangle
The Cultural Triangle is the ideal introduction to Sri Lanka's rich history. Located in north-central Sri Lanka, the Cultural Triangle consists of Anuradhapura, Dambulla, and Polonnaruwa. This is the area of the capitals of the ancient kingdoms of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's most beautiful cultural treasures can be found in this Cultural Triangle, with the magnificent rock temples of Dambulla, the stupas at Anaradhapura, the royal palaces and the Buddha statues in Polonnaruwa.
