Knuckles Mountain Range
The Knuckles Mountain Range is a rugged area east of Kandy. You can visit the park from the city or stay in the park itself. Hiking in the park is more intense than at Horton Plains or Peak Wilderness Sanctuary. You can have a real adventure in this beautiful park!
This park is listed as aUNESCO World Heritage Site, and with good reason. It has more than30 mountain peaks, giving the park a rugged appearance. The park is also filled withdense forests. You may encounter protected animal species in the park, which also hasseveral waterfalls. These features naturally provide the perfect ingredients for anadventurous hike. Be sure to do this with a guide. Not only will you leave the park in one piece, but the guide can also teach you everything about the park along the way and show you the right path.
The Knuckles Mountain Range is also a park with alarge number of bird species, and there is often a layerof fog in the valley. Animals you may encounter in the park include squirrels, boars, monkeys, and deer.
